Could your furry family member benefit from natural pain relief?

Best of all, it’s all natural so there’s no risk of harmful side effects that pharmaceuticals can cause. This makes it especially favorable for elderly pets or those who cannot tolerate medication.

Animal Care Hospital is pleased to include veterinary acupuncture as one of our alternative therapy services.

What is veterinary acupuncture?

Acupuncture works by relieving muscle tension and communicating with the nerves through a process called neuromodulation. It essentially re-routes pain sensors within the body and triggers the release of natural feel-good hormones, including norepinephrine, dopamine, and serotonin.

Acupuncture also decreases the threshold for pain by increasing nociception and assists in the creation of new neuropathways via nerve repair and/or regeneration.

Traditional Western medicine is effective in shutting down a disease process. Now we have a way to facilitate recovery from these processes by utilizing the body’s own hormones to aid in inflammatory processes, circulation, and pain relief.

What conditions can be treated through acupuncture?

Acupuncture can be used to address and manage a variety of health problems. It can also be used to boost the immune system and support ongoing wellness. Some of the conditions commonly treated with acupuncture include:

  • Arthritis
  • Sprains and Strains
  • Hip Dysplasia
  • Joint Problems
  • Neurological Conditions
  • Back Pain
  • Senior Pet Health

How many treatments will my pet need?

While the results of acupuncture can sometimes be seen after just a few sessions, every pet is different. The specific condition, its severity, and a number of other factors will help our veterinarians determine how many treatments are required. Once your pet has been evaluated, we’ll develop an individualized treatment recommendation.

If your loved one is struggling with pain or mobility issues, acupuncture may be the ideal solution. Contact Animal Care Hospital today to learn more or schedule a consultation.
