Benefits of Doggy Daycare

April 15 2020

Does your canine buddy stay home alone while you go off to work? Fido can be left alone for short periods of time. However, he may be much happier in doggy daycare. In this article from me, your Marion, IA vet, I list some great benefits of doggy daycare.

Socialization

As you may know, socialization is very important for puppies. Letting Fido interact with other dogs is absolutely crucial for this. Your pet’s buddies will teach him the do’s and don’ts of doggy social behavior. This will help him grow into a polite, friendly adult.

Exercise

Just like people, dogs need proper activity to stay healthy. At doggy daycare, your furry buddy will be able to run and play with his friends, instead of just napping and snacking all day. This is great for him physically!

Relief

Dogs can stay by themselves during the day. However, Fido may have a hard time waiting to relieve himself. With doggy daycare, you don’t have to worry about your canine pal making a mess and/or being uncomfortable. This is definitely a plus!

Safety

Another reason to consider doggy daycare is simply for safety purposes. Our four-legged friends certainly do have a knack for getting themselves into trouble! Fido could eat something he shouldn’t, or get tangled up in something. Other pooches may need to be monitored because of health conditions, or given medication at specific times. Also, if something does happen, your canine companion will be able to receive immediate care.

Less Destructive

As you may know, boredom and loneliness are both often factors in bad doggy behaviors like digging and chewing. Doggy daycare can be very helpful here! If Fido gets to run and play during the day, he’ll be able to release that pent-up energy in a good way, instead of by chewing up your sofa cushions or going through the trash.

Burn Energy

One great thing about doggy daycare is the fact that Fido will be just as busy and active during the day as you are. By the time you get home, your pooch will likely be more interested in cuddles and playtime than taking an hour-long walk through the park. You and your furry best friend can relax and unwind together!
